Harry Jacobs

Event information

Harry Jakobs was one of Albury Wodonga Yacht Club's stalwarts - a sailor who famously loved a bit of adventure and wasn't shy to don a woolen jumper, a beanie and head out for a mid-winter sail on Lake Hume.  The Harry Jakobs Winter Series is named after Harry: for his stoicism and his sense of adventure.

The Harry Jakobs Winter Series this year comprises three mornings, one each month from July through September,  neatly dovetailing into our season-proper, which runs from September through April.  The format of our Winter Series races will vary from month to month, being always mindful of the conditions, the safety of our sailors and volunteers, of having fun and with a healthy nod to the adventurous spirit of our Harry Jakobs.

The first of our Winter Series races is this Sunday20th July.

Acknowledging that it is mid-winter, note the later start time: briefing at 9am for a 10am start.

Here's hoping for a healthy turnout of eager sailors.

As always, we're also looking for volunteers to please help run these races.  The plan will be to keep them less intensive in terms of on-water administration, to keep everyone entertained, warm, dry and back onto land and a hot shower with the minimum of fuss.  Please let me know if you're available to help for this or any of our upcoming Harry Jakobs Series.

See you Sunday morning.
