Splicing Dyneema
Event information
The intention is to provide an easy-going, hands-on tutorial session with an emphasis on how to splice the likes of dyneema single-braid control lines: techniques, tools, tips and a few hints to get you started.
It's really not difficult and does open up a multitude of rigging options.
Stay tuned for more details :-)

Splicing Workshop: Sunday 18th 1pm-3.30pm
AWSC is running an introduction to splicing after this Sunday's Harry Jacobs #2. The emphasis will be on de-mystifying dyneema splicing. The idea will be to showcase some of the techniques and tools, and to provide some ideas for low-cost equivalents. Dyneema is becoming more readily available at cost-effective prices and it often makes a lighter and safer replacement to steel cables or shackles. Splicing an eye in one end of a dyneema line isn't difficult, with the right tools. A dyneema soft-shackle is easy to make, is lighter than a traditional stainless steel shackle and signigficatnly safer when it's attached to a jib that's flapping wildly in a stiff breeze.
Whilst we can't promise to make allcomers an expert in just a couple of hours, we can provide some knowledge, tools and direct you towards some resources. that will hopefully make splicing your own dyneema a lot less intimidating.
If anyone is available to assist, I'd appreciate the extra help, so please let me know on 0411 173573 or sailing.captain@awsc.com.au.
Thanks.
