The Start Sailing 1 course costs $230 inc gst, and includes a soft instruction book and logbook.

Areas covered include:

Basic clothing and equipment selection, sailing terminology, boat launch and recovery, capsize recovery in shallow water, rigging of the boat, sailing a reaching course, basic sailing rules and theory.

On completion you will be equipped to start sailng. 

This course requires a minimum of four participants (combined with Start Sailing 1&2) to go ahead.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
